摘要: Techniques are provided for generating a “dimensional zonemap” that allows database server to avoid scanning disk blocks of fact table based on filter predicates in query qualify one or more dimension tables. The zonemap divides the into sets contiguous referred as “zones”. For each zone, minimum value and maximum “zoned” columns tables is determined maintained zonemap. contains predicate zoned column, can be compared zone column determine whether scan skipped.
