摘要: Recent reports indicate that community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are increasing and may now involve persons without risk factors predisposing for acquisition. To estimate the extent of community MRSA in New York City, prevalence S. nasal colonization a well-patient population 500 children guardians was determined. The carriage 35% 28% guardians. One person with colonized an MRSA, which identified as predominant clone found City hospitals. A high degree methicillin-susceptible strain diversity noted, no apparent selection specific clonal types. Thus, is not ubiquitous outside health care environment. Bacterial competition lack strong limit spread can account its sporadic distribution.
