摘要: Modern voltage source pulse width modulation (PWM) inverters have elevated adjustable speed AC drives to a performance level comparable DC drives. To accomplish this, (VSI) now employ third generation insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT); however, the fast rise times associated with these devices produce unintended consequences. This paper examines motor overvoltages resulting from IGBT PWM VSI. Previous investigations shown critical power cable distance exists beyond which twice bus (2 pu) terminal voltages are possible. is determined primarily by time of and characteristics. investigates >2 pu, their cause solution. In contrast /spl ges/2 shows pu carrier frequency strategy. Furthermore, demonstrates up 3-4 Software modifications modulator modulating signal presented reduce overvoltage. Additionally, hardware correction, easily implemented within field programmable array (FPGA), disclosed experimentally demonstrated.
