摘要: Overvoltage transients occur on AC induction motors when connected through a power cable of sufficient length to variable speed drive consisting PWM inverter and IGBT devices. Factors contributing motor overvoltage transient equal twice the theoretical DC bus voltage are described using classical transmission line analysis. A critical distance (I/sub c/) is defined where occurs. However, literature lacking how greater than generated. This phenomenon observed all inverters with output lengths I/sub c/ distance. Theoretical calculations frequency damping correlated simulation experimental results. Finally, paper presents an external hardware apparatus (the Terminator), based cable's characteristic impedance, that clamps motor's terminal levels far below voltage. All proposed solutions verified or demonstrated
