Roles and Women's Well-Being: Some Preliminary Findings from Malaysia

摘要: This study examines the relationship betweenroles (work and family) well-being (happiness andsymptoms of distress) in a sample employed Malaysianwomen, made up both Malays (N = 288) Chinese 92). The two groups were similar termsof their socioeconomic status, as measured by education,occupation, family income. Both quantitative andqualitative analyses used. Results analysis showed that aftercontrolling for demographic variables age, race,and occupational group well personalityvariable negative affectivity, job autonomy predicted measures well-being. Happiness was alsopredicted spouse support. qualitative resultsprovided another aspect into women's perceptions oftheir roles. replies to questions on preference employment, theirhusbands' them work, reasons forworking, importance work family, child care,and overall reports richly complemented findings regressionanalysis. These are discussed with respect tothe general literature roles well-beingas within context Malaysiansociety.
