Phytofiltration of anaerobically digested sugarcane ethanol stillage using a macrophyte with high potential for biofuel production

摘要: Anaerobically digested stillage (ADS) requires treatment before being discharged into water bodies or soils to avoid adverse effects. Phytofiltration systems are eco-friendly technologies for wastewater treatment, and they simultaneously serve as a source of biomass biofuel production. The aim the present study was investigate phytofiltration ADS using Azolla sp. effects strength (dilutions 1: 50 1 : 25 v/v) initial density (IBD) [15.44 (IBD1) 23.16 (IBD2) g dry weight (dw) m−2] on plant growth pollutant removal were assessed. Productivities obtained at (2.93 3.04 g m−2 d−1 IBD1 IBD2, respectively) not significantly different from those synthetic medium (2.56 3.15 g respectively).
