摘要: Thyroid hormone promotes a diverse range of developmental, neurological and metabolic functions in vertebrate species. Human thyroid disorders result correspondingly wide disease symptoms. The are mediated by small group receptors encoded two conserved genes. were among the first nuclear to be identified act as ligand-regulated transcription factors. These particularly versatile since they also have potential mediate ligand-independent transcriptional control. Genetic analyses revealed both specific overlapping roles for each receptor, revealing how receptor family can an extended biological functions.
