摘要: Legislation for the preservation of biodiversity has been instrumental to recovery multiple species and habitats. The European Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC is one strongest legal tools in nature conservation. This seeks achieve its goals by requiring EU Member States take measures reach or maintain favorable conservation status (FCS) natural habitats Europe. FCS a concept, but must be understood applied scientists, managers, policy makers, therefore proper interpretation this concept crucial wildlife management. However, definition contains several aspects that can lead misinterpretation, forming core controversies determining whether not populations have reached FCS. In review, we provide ecological clarifications most contested yet conclusively settled analyzing weighing variety sources.
