A study of coping strategies of parents in relation to child’s level of intellectual disability

摘要: The present research study was aimed at assessing and comparing the type level of coping strategies among parents 150 intellectually disabled children, who were selected from 3 RCI (Rehabilitation Council India) recognized special schools Delhi across child’s degree intellectual disability. Sample drawn randomly in equal proportions three categories disability namely mild, moderate severe. assessed using Family Interview for Stress Coping Mental Retardation (Section-II) developed by NIMHANS. findings revealed that having children with severe had low expectations, more negative attitudes towards child management rearing practices as compare to mildly moderately children. these components decreasing severity Overall it observed families challenged comparatively better coped up.
