摘要: Abstract A computer method is described for the automatic classification of triterpanes and steranes into gross structural type from their mass spectral characteristics. The has been applied to spectra obtained by GC-MS analysis two mixtures standards hydrocarbon fractions isolated Green River Messel oil shales. Almost all identified previously in both shales were classified, addition a number new components. results indicate that such alkanes possible with laboratory system. application diagenesis maturation studies, oil/oil oil/source rock correlations, which rapid screening large numbers samples required.
