Viral encephalitis of tilapia larvae: primary characterization of a novel herpes-like virus

摘要: We report here an outbreak of acute disease that caused high mortality rate in laboratory-reared tilapia larvae. The was initially observed inbred gynogenetic line blue larvae (Oreochromis aureus) and could be transmitted to other species. Based on the clinical manifestation (a whirling syndrome), we refer as viral encephalitis disease-associated DNA virus is described accordingly designated (TLEV). A primary morphological, biophysical molecular characterization TLEV presented. By virtue these properties, newly discovered a herpes-like virus.
