摘要: Plant viruses possess only a limited amount of genetic information. Apart from the gene(s) for coat protein and one or two large polypeptides presumed to be involved in virus replication, information few specific disease-inducing proteins can present. This conclusion is reinforced by existence viroids, smallest pathogens known, which contain as 359 nucleotides. No viral protein(s) pathogenesis have yet been identified, neither vitro translation nucleic acids cell-free protein-synthesizing systems, nor vivo analysis changes profiles host plants upon infection. Contrary metabolic after infection with fungi bacteria, those resulting appear solely reactions plant connected primarily type severity symptoms produced: essentially all these are also found bacteria that induce similar symptoms. Apparently, ability react particular way it does, present “cryptic” form time, but evoked triggering action infecting virus. The underlying symptom expression may never expressed during normal development, or, if is, an untimely uncoordinated way, no longer subject common regulatory controls, thus giving rise characteristic disease.
