摘要: Background.Reducing adolescents' exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is an important public health goal. This paper identifies the linkage between young people's at home and household smoking restrictions, suggests promotion of such restrictions as a strategy reduce risks. Methods.Data are from 1993 Massachusetts Tobacco Survey, telephone survey 1,606 adolescents. Results.Seventy-eight percent adolescents reported ETS during preceding week. Reported hours were associated with number adult smokers in (P< 0.001). Fifty-three teens who lived no for family members, 22% designated areas, 25% bans. Among those households, members significant reductions mean reported: 33.2 hr prior week, areas—12.7 hr, bans—2.4 hr. Restrictions on visitor nonsmokers, but had independent effect among smokers. Conclusions.Health risks experienced by living can be substantially reduced restrictions.
