摘要: OBJECTIVE Antidepressant use has risen sharply over recent years. Recent concerns that antidepressants may adversely affect glucose metabolism require investigation. Our aim was to assess the risk of type 2 diabetes associated with through a systematic review. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Data sources were MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, The Cochrane Library, Web Science, meeting abstracts European Association for Study Diabetes, American Diabetes Association, and UK, Current Controlled Trials, ClinicalTrials.gov, U.K. Clinical Research Network, scrutiny bibliographies retrieved articles, contact relevant experts. Relevant studies antidepressant effects included. Key outcomes incidence change in blood (fasting random). RESULTS Three systemic reviews 22 met inclusion criteria. designs included 1 case series 21 observational comprising 4 cross-sectional, 5 case-control, 12 cohort studies. There evidence is diabetes. Causality not established, but rather, picture confused, some linked worsening control, particularly higher doses longer duration, others improved yet more mixed results. recent, larger studies, however, suggest modest effect. quality variable. CONCLUSIONS Although exists be an independent factor diabetes, long-term prospective individual rather than class are required. Heightened alertness potential risks necessary until these complete.
