摘要: Transient electric birefringence of poly(L-α,γ-diaminobutyric acid hydrochloride) in methanol/water mixtures has been measured over a wide range field strengths and solvent compositions at different polymer concentrations temperatures. The molar ellipticity 222 nm the specific Kerr constant underwent an abrupt change between 75 80 vol % methanol 25°C, accompanied by solvent-induced helix–coil transition. Anomalous transients were observed 78 vol% above threshold strengths. double logarithmic plots steady-state versus square strength for could be superimposed shifting them horizontally along abscissa vertically ordinate except where anomalous observed. estimated from point which downward deviation occurred. It increased with increasing concentration content on verge transition region. results interpreted as indicating that conformational charged helix to coil is induced high fields this system, case poly(L-lysine hydrobromide) mixtures.
