摘要: Much of the existing psychological literature on depression is based research with college students. An important question whether in students represents an appropriate analogue clinical patients. The purpose present article to review past evidence this issue from a critical perspective. Past arguments are examined, and little support found for position that not warranted. Moreover, results studies student samples compared, findings generally similar across populations. Next, number methodological issues identified may actually favor use depressed students, some recommendations future outlined. Finally, appeal made directly examines analogue-clinical nature depression.
