摘要: To assay the detailed structural relationship between axonally transported vesicles and their substrate microtubules, vesicle transport was focally cold blocked in axoplasm that extruded from squid giant axon. A brief localized block concentrated anterogradely retrogradely selectively on either proximal or distal side of block. Normal movement reactivated by rewarming cold-blocked axoplasm. At periphery axoplasm, moving were located individual microtubules had become separated other cytomatrix components. The presence isolated permitted identification components required for along microtubules. results show 16-18-nm cross-bridges connect both to These observations demonstrate are fundamental axonal Thus, can now be included among those cell motile systems such as muscle axonemes based a cross-bridge-mediated mechanism.
