摘要: This paper is about a large landslide located at Taprang, on the right bank of Madi River in west Nepal Himalaya. It attempts to reconstruct evolution from its initial state present conditions. Many landslides involve multiple failure incidents different times attain their size and shape. The Taprang has also been active for more than 75 years experienced many episodes. slide lies very complex geological setting characterized by presence Main Central Thrust some other folds as well several joint sets shear zones. developed weathered graphitic schists, highly fractured jointed quartzites, marbles, gneisses, few amphibolites. Landslide mapping revealed that rocks are deformed fractured. They have undergone intense weathering. Laboratory analysis rock soil samples collected surrounding area shows rocks, infillings, zones rich clay minerals, especially smectite montmorillonite having swelling properties. Besides, hydrologic, climatic, anthropogenic factors operating simultaneously since long time contributed significantly enlargement slide. study indicates high potential future towards upper slopes.
