摘要: To study the prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in general population and value brachialgia paraesthetica nocturna (BPN) diagnosing CTS, an age sex stratified random sample 715 subjects was taken from register Maastricht (The Netherlands) surrounding villages, between September 1983 July 1985. The response rate 70%. Of these, 12 CTS cases had already been diagnosed. remaining subjects, 64 (13 men, 51 women) woke up because BPN. Among these 1 man 23 women were found to have CTS. undetected 5.8% [95% confidence interval (CI): 3.5-8.1%] adult women; 3.4 percent (95% CI: 1.5-5.3%) diagnosed as overall for men 0.6% CI 0.02-3.4%). These figures be regarded minimal estimates. diagnostic BPN 38%, while only this 45% 31-60%).
