摘要: Taiwan is located in an active seismicity region with more than thousands of events occurring every year average. On the other hand, this small inland a home around 23-million people, and nearly 20% daily activity powered by three existing nuclear power plants (NPPs), new one under construction Northeastern Taiwan, which officially referred to as Longman plant, also known “fourth NPP” or “NPP 4” locally. However, when seeing last 110 years, can not help but wonder how decision-making process finalizes such location for critical structure. As result, underlying scope study discuss site selection fundamentals engineering given prior objectives: maximizing design safety, minimizing cost, risk. Given NPP 4 following same earthquake-resistant cost very likely building NPPs, owing high earthquake potential risk should be higher those North South Taiwan. Therefore, without further information, possibly confidential, being available at moment, we must conclude that optimal scientific, analysis seismic hazard. We hope believe decision was made condition constructed strict standard compensate site. Under circumstance, would logical option minimized acceptable level, regardless cost.
