Energy Drinks and atrial fibrillation in young adults.

摘要: Summary The present paper evaluates the association between Energy Drinks (EDs) and occurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in young people. Data from three clinical cases AF after EDs consumption are reported. All patients presented with palpitations, nausea anxiety. ECG showed high ventricular response (135–170 bpm range frequency). Anamnestic record reported a during previous 8 h onset AF. In one case ED was associated moderate quantity alcohol. Patients were successfully cardioverted both spontaneously pharmacological treatment. After cardioversion: echocardiogram appeared normal all patients; toxicological tests laboratory analyses resulted negative. Our experience suggests that larger EDs, especially when combined alcoholic beverages, could act as trigger development patients. This action may be caused by synergic effect caffeine other substances EDs. Following increasing people, we suggest careful attention to cardiac complications.
