摘要: Abstract Background & Aims: Positron emission tomography (PET) allows imaging and quantitative analysis of organ functions in basal stimulated conditions. We have applied this method to the study biliary bicarbonate secretion humans. Methods: PET was performed 5 healthy subjects 13 patients with hepatobiliary disorders after intravenous injection NaH 11 CO 3 . In each case conditions secretin stimulation. from hepatic area scanned, normalized uptake values for parenchymal hilar regions were estimated. Results: individuals, resulted a peak label 2–3 minutes injection. both normal cirrhotic subjects, administration increased region, followed by accumulation perihilar area. Normal absent response registered extrahepatic obstruction untreated primary cirrhosis (PBC). The present PBC undergoing treatment ursodeoxycholic acid. Conclusions: investigation An impaired observed cholestatic Preliminary data suggest that acid might improve PBC. GASTROENTEROLOGY 1999;117:167-172
