摘要: Energy extraction in XeCl discharge amplifiers is examined experimentally and theoretically for 0.16-, 3.0-, 600-psec pulse durations. Saturation energies of 1.0, 2.5 mJ/cm2, respectively, are measured. When nonsaturable loss included the analysis values saturation increase to 1.35, 3.0 respectively. A significant decrease effective small-signal gain observed as duration decreases bandwidth limit, agreement with a simple coherent pulse-propagation calculation.
