摘要: Calcitriol was compared with placebo in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis a double-blind, randomized, parallel clinical trial 24 months' duration. Adjustment made dietary calcium to maximize dose calcitriol. The study completed by 15 patients who received and 12 calcitriol group had positive slopes (compared negative for group) total body calcium, bone mineral content radius, density lumbar spine, radiographic absorptiometry middle phalanges. difference between two groups statistically significant each these measurements. fracture rate 250 per 1,000 patient-years as 333 group. mean 0.8 micrograms day. Hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, perhaps nephrolithiasis were observed complications treatment. increased decreasing resorption, but not increasing formation. Future studies should concentrate on oral lower doses. It would also be interest examine parenteral administration is possible that formation can achieving higher serum levels drug, whereas may avoided using non-oral route administration.
