摘要: Although many examples of trait loss exist in nature, the underlying population genetic mechanism responsible for is usually unknown. Selective or neutral processes can result deterioration a trait, and often one these inferred based on indirect evidence. Furthermore, selective pressures that are unique to particular environments effect might have cause not well understood. Here we describe an experimental evolution system where two different were used addressing throughout evolutionary time. We found growth minimal medium (i.e., prototrophy) was lost all populations regardless environment pattern due selection, whereas other remains inconclusive.
