摘要: We documented an increase in the abundance of wild lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) at Gull Island Shoal western Lake Superior and examined relationship between parental-stock size recruitment age-0 fish 1964–1992. Abundance adult female densities both increased during 28-year period. A significant positive, linear (P = 0.0002) was found females on spawning reef fall density adjacent nursery grounds August September following year. The hatchery-origin did not explain amounts 0.107) variation recruitment. concluded that most 1965–1992 result natural reproduction females. After 28 years recovery population appears to have additional capacity because stock-recruitment is still linear. Therefore, restoration periods order 30 may be needed for other populations Great Lakes. recommend refuge established protect this maintained allow further study parental stock recruitment, provide a major source surrounding waters.
