摘要: Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are massive proliferations of toxic algal species that occur under appropriate climatic and environmental conditions. HABs can exert their adverse impacts both on the environment particular living organisms through production marine biotoxins. Consumption contaminated seafood or direct exposure to biotoxins (swimming, aerosols etc.) result in human illness even death. Thousands cases marine-toxin-related poisoning reported every year a global basis. In Italy, research has shown continuously changing toxin profile, with most classes known so far being found at some point seawater. Starting late 1980s, first finding biotoxin, okadaic acid, along Italian coastline, number other toxins – namely, yessotoxins, pectenotoxins, saxitoxins, domoic spirolides, palytoxins azaspiracids have been found. Here we provide an overview, chronological order, many infested seawater over past 25 years.
