摘要: Natural immunity to Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) invasive disease is based on antibodies arising in response encounters with Hib or cross-reactive (CR) bacteria. The relative importance of and CR contacts unknown. We applied a statistical model estimate the total rate immunizing infections prior wide-scale vaccinations Finland UK. average rates these were 0.7 1.2 per year child UK, respectively. Using rough 0.1 acquisitions UK carriage rates, proportion among all was order 10%, suggesting that bacteria have major role. In general, varying frequency may explain some differences pre-vaccination incidence age-distribution different countries.
