摘要: During a 2-year study on wild boar ecology in semiagricultural area of Northern Apennines (central Italy), 47 animals were caught with traps and subsequently immobilized chemical restrain based 1:1 mixture xylazine tiletamine/zolazepam (1 ml contains: 50 mg xylazine, 25 mg tiletamine, zolazepam). Effective immobilization was observed 55% the boars, high capture mortality rate occurred (in 10.6% boars). A posteriori analysis, by means logistic regression model, performed to assess potential factors associated failure. Underdosage increase number together significantly failure, while appears be positively related sole trap size alone. The stress developed during plays relevant role influencing outcomes anesthesia. Thus, use alternative handling or catching procedures aim reduce captured could maximize safety efficiency immobilization.
