Methods: Immunohistochemistry using antibodies beclin-1, Atg5 Atg12, early markers LC3, mammalian homologue of later marker Atg8, were localized formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded medial temporal lobe sections AD cases at variable neuritic stages. Double immunofluorescence labelling was used co-localize these Aβ phospho-tau (AT8) correlations performed Spearman rank tests. Results: Atg12 immunoreactivity either dispersed soma dendrites or concentrated tau-immunoreactive dystrophic neurites some neurofibrillary tangles. Fewer Atg12-immunopositive observed longer durations. Atg12-immunoreactive found spatially Aβ-positive plaques, more capillary higher stage. These findings confirmed by other autophagy LC3. Conclusion: The data confirm that occurs undergoing degeneration AD, identified close proximity changes
