摘要: Abstract A study has been made of the magnetic properties a suite continental serpentinites from Burro Mountain, California. The chemistry this set samples previously studied, enabling to be compared chemical changes which occurred during serpentinization. Two distinct phases have recognized. first is extremely stable but does not appear contribute significantly natural remanent magnetization most strongly magnetized samples. second phase clearly multi-domained magnetite having well-defined transition in its coercivity near 120°K. However, apparent either least serpentinized or studied. data argue for existence two types serpentinites; dominantly by component we suggest may Ni 3 Fe, Fe O 4 with unstable magnetization. There no clear connection between appearance and amount
