摘要: Considering the popularity of bottled mineral water among indigenous Fijians and tourists alike, a study was carried out to determine bacteriological quality different waters. A risk assessment also out. Seventy-five samples belonging three domestic brands 25 one imported brand were analysed for heterotrophic plate count (HPC) bacteria faecal coliforms. HPC counts determined at 22 degrees C 37 using R2A medium membrane filtration technique used coliform (FC) load in 100 ml on mFC agar. Between 28 68% various failed meet WHO standard colony forming units (cfu) per 7% these tested positive All within standards. terms beta haemolytic activity antibiotic resistance. More than 50% isolates showed multi-drug resistant. While overall product generally good, there is need enforce stringent standards bottlers ensure safety consumers.
