摘要: Synaptic neurotransmission is modified at cortical connections throughout life. Varying the amplitude of postsynaptic response one mechanism that generates flexible signaling in neural circuits. The timing synaptic may also play a role. Here, we investigated whether weakening and loss an entire connection between excitatory neurons was foreshadowed response. We made electrophysiological recordings rat primary somatosensory cortex undergoing experience-dependent complete local connections. latency pyramid–pyramid connections, which typically comprise multiple synapses, longer more variable. Connection strength were not correlated. Instead, prolonged closely related to progression loss. action potential waveform axonal conduction velocity unaffected, suggesting altered attributable mechanism. Modeling studies indicated increasing jitter subset synapses reduced number potentials fired by neuron. propose diminished temporal precision are hallmarks impending connection.
