摘要: Purpose To report on local tumor control after 106 Ru brachytherapy for choroidal melanoma. Methods and Materials A total of 458 patients with melanoma were treated at a single institution between January 1993 December 2001. The tumors had median longest basal dimension 10.6 mm height 3.2 mm. was administered using 15- or 20-mm plaque. For posterior tumors, the plaque positioned eccentrically its edge aligned margin to reduce radiation dose optic disk fovea. minimal scleral sufficient cause visible atrophy provided permanent ophthalmoscopic record distribution irradiation. If radiotherapy uncertain, adjunctive transpupillary thermotherapy 6 months postoperatively. Results actuarial rates recurrence 1%, 2%, 3% 2, 5, 7 years, respectively. Local correlated (Cox univariate analysis, p = 0.02, risk ratio 1.41, 95% confidence interval 1.06–1.88). Seven nine eyes recurrent salvaged additional conservative therapy. Conclusion low rate suggests that ruthenium is effective good case selection if special measures are taken ensure correctly.
