摘要: The novel self-paced, cycle-based maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) test (SPV) has been shown to produce higher VO2max values than standard graded exercise (GXT) protocols. This study sought ascertain whether these observations would also be apparent in a treadmill-based design. Fourteen trained male runners performed GXT on motorised treadmill and self-paced nonmotorised counter-balanced included plateau verification was designed last between 8 12 min. 5 × 2 min stages allowed participants set their own running speed based fixed increments rating of perceived exertion. Significantly (t[13] = 3.71, p 0.003) were achieved the (64.4 ± 7.3 mL · kg(-1) min(-1)) compared with (61.3 min(-1)), 13 14 same or test. Higher (p 0.01) maximum heart rates observed (191 10 beats min(-1) vs. 187 7 but no differences any other recorded variables. may provide more valid means measuring suggests that VO2 during does not always signify achievement definitive VO2max. These results further support testing produces for uptake.
