摘要: Summary form only given. The emergence of dense wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks is stimulating interest in the development WDM cross-connects. WEST cross-connect an optical four wavelength per fiber 3/spl times/3 that utilizes high-speed electronics and optoelectronics to implement core switching function, transmitters, receivers. Applications this system element include: network cross-connect, OC-48 or OC-192 add/drop access, bi-directional SONET ring interconnection, large ATM switch synthesis, distributed computing. asynchronous electronic allows for arbitrary translation, remote monitoring/control data regeneration, making it well-suited application particularly interexchange cross-connection. This approach reduces problems posed by all approaches including erbium-doped amplifier gain flatness, monitoring, nonlinearities, chromatic dispersion. divided into two main modules: transmitter/receiver 12/spl times/12 crosspoint switch.
