摘要: Objectives: To collect information on the cause of death and longevity dogs owned by members numerically largest breed clubs 169 UK Kennel Club-recognised breeds. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out. Approximately 58,363 questionnaires were sent out to club in 2004 (nine failed report exact number out). Owners reported age at cause(s) for all that had died within previous 10 years. Results: total 13,741 (24% response rate) containing 15,881 deaths included analysis. Breed-specific rates ranged from 64·7 4·5%. The median 11 years 3 months (minimum=2 months, maximum=23 5 months) it varied breed. most common causes cancer (n=4282, 27%), “old age” (n=2830, 18%) cardiac conditions (n=1770, 11%). Clinical Significance: This survey shows differences lifespan death, results support evidence smaller breeds tend have longer compared with larger breeds. Although many may not be representative general pedigree dog population UK, do contribute limited currently available.
