摘要: The high viscosity of vegetable oils leads to problem in pumping and spray characteristics. inefficient mixing with air contributes incomplete combustion. best way use as fuel compression ignition (CI) engines is convert it into biodiesel. Biodiesel a methyl or ethyl ester fatty acids made from (both edible non-edible) animal fat. main resources for biodiesel production can be non-edible obtained plant species such Pongamia pinnata (Honge oil), Jatropha curcas (Ratanjyot), Hevea brasiliensis (Rubber) Calophyllum inophyllum (Nagchampa). used its pure form blended diesel different blends. It CI very little no engine modifications. This because has properties similar mineral diesel. paper presents the results investigations carried out on single-cylinder, four-stroke, direct-injection, operated esters Honge oil, oil sesame oil. Comparative measures brake thermal efficiency, smoke opacity, HC, CO, NOX, delay, combustion duration heat release rates have been presented discussed. Engine performance terms higher efficiency lower emissions (HC, NOX) operation was observed compared operation. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
