摘要: Many successful free/open source software (FOSS) projects start with the premise that their contributors are rarely colocated, and as a consequence, these cases of global development (GSD). This article describes how GNOME Project, large FOSS project, has tried to overcome disadvantages GSD. The main goal is create GUI desktop for Unix systems, encompasses close two million lines code. More than 500 individuals (distributed across world) have contributed project. also methods practices used by members its organizational structure. ends proposing list could benefit other projects, both commercial.
