摘要: The corrosion of early 20 th century steel-framed structures is resulting in serious damage to the integrity and appearance many historically important structures. Conventional repair technologies are expensive disruptive can result large scale removal original material for replacement with modern alternatives. Depending upon causes deterioration, such traditional methodologies may not provide a satisfactory extension service life. Cathodic protection, dating back 1824, represents first engineered solution problems ferrous alloy corrosion. Developments anode design control/monitoring hardware have made technique applicable steel framed manner that proving acceptable both commercially from conservation viewpoint. This paper discusses practicalities frame cathodic protection general approaches available its application. It will also briefly discuss current research properly establish operational characteristics technique.
