摘要: The maintenance and remediation of historic structures naturally lends itself to the use traditional materials methods. While ‘like for like’ remains gold standard, there are situations that may mean alternative methods need be considered. Many these approaches associated with prevention or control corrosion metallic components used as reinforcement, fixings decoration. Common alloys iron carbon, such steel, cast wrought iron, totally synthetic, essential unstable prone corrosion. A number electrochemical available extend life items. Corrosion can also controlled by chemical in form inhibitors. Red lead provided this protection but newer organic options have become without a coating system. In addition concerns over durability structures, often problems their structural capacity. Fibre reinforced composites (FRC) resin matrixes originally developed concrete applied stone brick masonry, timber iron. polymer component FRC result creep, poor fire performance attack UV, solvents heat. Replacement matrix an inorganic could resolve limitations recent developments, geopolymers, essentially artificial rock, one answer. Finally, rapid development sensor remote interrogation technology allows sensitive enhancements effectively monitored detracting from aesthetic values.
