摘要: Internalization of human pathogens, common in many types fresh produce, is a threat to health since the internalized pathogens cannot be fully inactivated/removed by washing with water or sanitizers. Given that pathogen internalization can affected environmental factors, this study was conducted investigate influence two plant stress on Salmonella Typhimurium iceberg lettuce during pre-harvest. The stresses were: abiotic (water induced extreme weather events) and biotic (phytopathogen infection mosaic virus [LMV]). Lettuce without LMV were purposefully contaminated green fluorescence protein-labeled S. leaf surfaces. also subjected conditions (drought storm) which simulated irrigating different amounts water. parts quantified plate count real-time quantitative PCR confirmed laser scanning confocal microscope. occurred under outlined above; however levels not significantly alone. In contrast, extent culturable leafy part decreased when infected high Typhimurium. On other hand, LMV-infected showed significant increase bacteria roots. conclusion, observed all experimental surface However, only LMV.
