摘要: The aim of this study was to examine the antinociceptive potential leaves Ixora coccinea (family: Rubeaceae). One four doses (500, 750, 1000 or 1500 mg/kg, n = 8/dose) aqueous leaf extract (ALE) 1 ml distilled water orally administered male rats and activity ascertained using three models ofnociception (tail flick, hot plate formalin tests). results showed that ALE possesses considerable (when evaluated in test but not tail flick test). had a rapid onset (within 1h) fairly long duration action (up 5 h) with peak effect at 3 h. Further, dose-dependent associated harmful side-effects toxicity even following subchronic administration. mediated centrally supraspinal level mainly via dopaminergic mechanism. In addition, it is likely antioxidant could have played an auxiliary role inducing antinociception. Dopaminergic antioxidative activities arise, respectively, from its quaternary base alkaloid flavonoid constituents.
