摘要: Understanding the impacts of forest certification The loss and degradation tropical have become issues popular concern political debate across world. logging was once seen as root problem but over last three decades that view has altered somewhat. although subject remains contentious, environmental nGos are divided, there is some acceptance even though timber production a threat to long-term viability biodiversity, it may also make positive contribution. promotion socially ecologically sound management — through certification1 changed narrative. now widely advocated strategy conserve world’s forests biodiversity they contain. consumers will pay premium for products promise “biodiversity friendly” markets closing non-certified products.
