摘要: Pt nanoparticles (NPs) formed by ion-beam synthesis in amorphous ${\text{SiO}}_{2}$ were irradiated with Au ions the energy range of 27--185 MeV. Small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy used to characterize an irradiation-induced shape transformation within NPs. A simple yet effective way analyzing SAXS data determine both NP dimensions is presented. from spherical rodlike increasing irradiation fluence was observed for NPs larger than energy-dependent threshold diameter, which varied 4.0 6.5 nm over smaller this diameter remained upon but decreased size as a result dissolution. The latter more pronounced smallest particles. minor dimension transformed saturated at value comparable elongation. less molten track matrix. We demonstrate that 13 reach saturation beyond total-energy deposition into matrix $20\text{ }\text{keV}/{\text{nm}}^{3}$.
