摘要: [1] We assessed the effects of historical (1931–1998) changes in both land use and climate on water budget a rapidly urbanizing watershed, Ipswich River basin (IRB), northeastern Massachusetts. Water diversions extremely low flow during summer are major issues IRB. Our study centers detailed analysis combined empirical/modeling treatment evapotranspiration (ET) response to use. A accounting showed that net increased due increases withdrawals (primarily groundwater pumping) export sewage. Net constitute component runoff (20% streamflow). Using combination empirical physically based modeling, we related an increase precipitation (2.7 mm/yr) other variables ET (1.7 mm/yr). Simulations with water-balance model could be attributed entirely change climate, while effect was negligible. The different from trends commonly associated urbanization. We generalized these findings predict future streamflow using scenarios. serve as framework for studying suburban watersheds, being first watershed addresses long-term accounts unique aspects hydrology.
