摘要: We present a study of Mn magnetic impurities (about 2%) in Ni with resonant x-ray emission spectroscopy excited at the L 2 . 3 edges using circularly polarized x rays incident almost parallel/antiparallel to magnetization. The results are discussed jointly absorption circular dichroism and complemented elastic reflectivity measurements. Moreover, we show that is particularly suitable impurity problem, since self-absorption/saturation corrections measurements rather limited. problem treated also theoretically full multiplet splitting calculation single + (3d 5 ) ion cubic crystal field. theory reproduces satisfactorily all experimental trends features dispersing photon energy whole region, whereas it not adequate just below excitation. joint use allows us extract nondispersive component from measured spectra. It shown this does correlate directly 3d-Mn local density states. general implications discussed.
