摘要: Following its discovery in bovine pineal tissue the late 1950s (Lerner et al, 1958) melatonin was functionally linked to reproductive system (Hoffman and Reiter, 1965). Soon after discovery, gland, which is a primary source for circulating melatonin, shown be dependent on photoperiodic cycle (Quay, 1964; Snyder al., 1964), found regulate photoperiod-mediated physiology (Czyba Hoffman 1965, 1973), depend sympathetic innervation activity (Reiter Hester, 1966).
