摘要: Carbon nanotubes have a wide range of applications in various industries and their use is likely to rise the future. Currently, major concern that with increasing production these materials, there may be increased health risks exposed workers. Long (> 15 microm) straight undergo frustrated phagocytosis which result reduced clearance. We examine here effects multiwalled carbon different sizes on monocytic THP-1 cells, regard ability stimulate expression HO-1 GST genes produce nuclear translocation transcription factor, Nrf2, as well release several pro-inflammatory cytokines mediators inflammation. Our results suggest long (50 (62.5 microg/ml for 4 hours) Nrf2 gene compared shorter entangled nanotubes. There was no GST. The (NT1) caused proinflammatory cytokine IL-1beta, an effect diminished by antioxidant trolox, suggesting role oxidative stress upregulation this cytokine. Tentatively, our study suggests exert cells part via mechanism.
