摘要: Terrein is a fungal metabolite with ecological, antimicrobial, antiproliferative, and antioxidative activities. Although it produced by Aspergillus terreus as one of its major secondary metabolites, not much is known about biosynthetic pathway. Here, we describe an unexpected discovery of the terrein biosynthesis gene locus made while were looking for PKS involved in production conidia coloration pigments common Aspergilli. The gene, ATEG_00145, here named terA, essential heterologous TerA niger revealed unusual plasticity products formed, yielding mixture 4-hydroxy-6-methylpyranone, orsellinic acid, and 6,7-dihydroxymellein. Biochemical molecular genetic analyses indicate low extension cycle specificity TerA. Furthermore, 6-hydroxymellein was identified key intermediate biosynthesis. We find that highly induced on plant-derived media, has phytotoxic activity plant growth, induces lesions fruit surfaces.
